EOLIS Air Manager air purifier: 99.6% effective against coronavirus
19 November 2020
Tests carried out by an independent laboratory have shown that the EOLIS Air Manager air purifier eliminates 99.6% of coronavirus present in the air within ten minutes of operation. Here are some explanatory details.
As a pioneer and expert on indoor air quality issues, NatéoSanté has been involved in the fight against Covid-19 since early 2020. The company was very quickly referenced by the French Healthcare association as one of the key players participating in the national effort to fight the pandemic. We have equipped many hospitals with professional air purifiers, both in France and abroad, including China.
While the effectiveness of the EOLIS Air Manager models in the field is well established, primarily as the choice of health professionals, conclusive measurements, carried out in October 2020 by a French reference microbiology and virology laboratory, provide further confirmation of their performance.
Tests carried out with a standard EOLIS Air Manager 600S
After a series of tests, performed on a human coronavirus strain (HCoV-229E) very similar to the SARS-CoV-2 strain, the results demonstrated that the EOLIS Air Manager professional air purifier was able to eliminate 99.6% of the coronavirus present in the test chamber after only 10 minutes of operation.
This 99.6% efficacy was obtained with a standard EOLIS Air Manager 600S device equipped with a Perform+ filter block composed of a HEPA H13 filter certified to NF EN ISO 29463-4 (formerly NF EN 1822-4). An aerosol of droplets contaminated with a known concentration of coronavirus was nebulised for five minutes in a hermetic chamber. The 99.6% reduction rate was then measured after only 10 minutes of air treatment and at speed 2.

"The results demonstrated by these tests allow us to affirm that our EOLIS Air Manager air purifier is effective in eliminating the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic, from the ambient air" adds Anaïs Guyomarc'h, Director of Operations and R&D at NatéoSanté.
Indeed, "these two strains HCoV-229E and SARS-CoV-2 belong to the same coronavirus family. They have very similar structures and dimensions. Their transmission mechanisms in the air are comparable".
" These tests confirm the soundness of our technological choices "
Thierry Ricci, founder and CEO of NatéoSantéFor Thierry Ricci, founder and CEO of NatéoSanté, "We have extensive experience. We have been experts in indoor air quality for over ten years. It is the excellence of our work, our technological choices and French innovation that are being recognised. We attach great importance to having the performance and safety of our technology evaluated. These successful tests, validated by scientific means, confirm the efficacy of our professional air purifiers".

Whilst the risk of viral transmission by aerosols, in addition to droplets and fomites, is acknowledged, barrier gestures, physical distancing, mask wearing and regular ventilation of an enclosed area remain the essential responses to protect oneself individually and collectively. The installation of a professional air purifier completes this hygienic safety process.
In the specific context of the second lockdown which sometimes resulted in partial or total continuation of normal activities (in companies, in administrations accessible to the public, in schools, colleges or high schools), air purifiers are a comforting source of additional health reassurance.
Germany, in particular, has looked into this issue for its schools. In France, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region is considering a plan to equip private and public high schools under its control. In this context, NatéoSanté air purifiers have been selected for a series of tests.
EOLIS Air Manager: performance guarantees
The coronavirus efficacy tests conducted by NatéoSanté complete the existing set of performance reports to guarantee the overall efficacy of the EOLIS Air Manager air purifier:
- On fine particles PM2.5
- On Formaldehyde and Benzene to meet the French legal requirements on indoor air quality
- On Hydrogen Sulphide
- On other micro-organisms (bacteria and mould)
The Perform+filter units, which are standard equipment in the EOLIS Air Manager, consist of three main elements:
- Bactericidal, virucidal and acaricidal filter - certified ISO 18184:2019 and NF G39-011
- Very high density activated carbon filter
- Medical grade HEPA H13 filter - EN 1822-4 certified
The combination of these filters together with other innovative technologies, such as germicidal UV-C lamps and the exclusive Active Oxygen function, contributes to the performance of EOLIS Air Manager air purifiers with regard to all indoor air pollutants.
The quality of the HEPA filters used, certified and tested individually to guarantee their filtration performance, is also in line with the INRS (French National Institute of Research and Safety for the Prevention of Accidents at Work and Occupational Diseases) recommendations issued in October 2020 regarding the precautions to be taken against Covid-19.
In its memorandum, the INRS (under the aegis of Sécurité Sociale) wrote about air purifiers: "Only devices equipped with HEPA filters of universal class H13 according to standard 1822-1 can effectively stop aerosols.”
Total safety as an additional measure of efficacy
In a study published in 2017, the ANSES (National Agency for Health Safety) also drew attention to the need to demonstrate the performance of certain air purifiers but also to ensure that they did not degrade indoor air quality by generating new pollutants.
EOLIS Air Manager provides an indisputable answer to this point by being completely benign. This means that the device purifies the air and, thanks to its eco-design, does not generate or emit any pollutants during operation. This benign operation has been verified, with the support of ADEME (Ecological Transition Agency), within the framework of the ETV (Environmental Technology Verification) programme, supported by the European Commission.
Thierry Ricci: from corporate mission to societal commitment
Thierry Ricci, founder and CEO of NatéoSantéIn the spring of 2020, when assessing the results of the first wave and the efforts made to meet demand, Thierry Ricci praised his team's commitment: "This is an illustration of the strength of NatéoSanté's fundamentals, its history, and its values since its creation: the human being has always been at the heart of the project! We do things with empathy and honesty. The team takes great pride in fulfilling this mission. Our work becomes even more meaningful!”
At the heart of the new Covid-19 wave that is sweeping France, Europe and almost the entire planet, the 99.6% efficacy now demonstrated against coronaviruses comes both as a recognition of and a response to the trust placed in the brand by customers: the users of its air purifiers.
"The results of these tests are the continuation of our daily demand for efficiency and our commitment to our customers", says Ricci. Health is a societal imperative. Our response... an ongoing demand for improved performance”.
